hi. i have a emachines and i want to buy a new graphics card off ebay.i know that i need a pci card but i have been looking at the cards and some of them dont look like they would fit into my pci slot.is there a certain pci card that i need cause i seen that there are different kinds like pci express and pci bus.what one do i need?

thats what i need to know...i was told that i need a pci card from the place that i bough it from....so for example a ..pci express card wont work?

Download cpu-z from here. Open the .zip and run cpuz.exe. Now click on the mainboard tab. At the bottom, it will have a "grpahic interface section. There, it iwll tell you whether you have pci, pci-e or agp.

it doesnt say anything in the graphics interface section :'(
Hmmmmm, very weird. Can you take a pic of the slot?

EDIT; Actually, knowing which exact e-machines you have would help aswell.

That card you linked ot on ebay, is confusing me. Perhaps someone else oculd explain why there are 3 tabs on the card. Anyway, the pci image you gave, are there any different looking slots near the pci slots inline with the pci slots, usually towards to the middle of the edge of the board. If not, then you only have pci slots, and afaik, the fx5700le is the best pci card available.

well thats wat my friend said but i just wanted to know before i bought something over the net cause i cant just go and return it.....

is this computer custom built or store bought, and if custom whats ur motherboard and if store bought what model is your computer???

my computer isnt old its just...an emachines lol...they dont relize that pci graphics cards are out of date and they still keep making there computers like that.its a 2004 model......oh and thx for all the help

You might want to consider, provided your cpu is fairly new, swapping out the Motherboard for one with an 8x AGP or a PCIe for a decent video card.
