Help with PDF's

I'm trying to take a PDF and edit it. Right now what I do is open the PDF in Adobe Reader, take a screen capture, paste it into Photoshop then edit it and Print it as a PDF using "PDFCreator".

It seems that I am losing considerable quality when I do this. I'm guessing it's because the screen cap is low res, but I don't know. It could also be the application I use to create the PDF.

What process do you guys think is the best way to modify a PDF without losing image quality?

Most PDF's weren't created to be edited, if they were they should be using a word processing format. Just as an FYI, you can import PDF's directly into Photoshop, then edit them - no need to take a screenshot.

Unless you have the original source file to edit, no matter what you do it won't be 100%. The more fonts & formatting contained in the doc, the harder it will be to edit.

Try googling for a pdf to Word converter. I've had marginal success that way but it always seems to lose some in the translation (usually end up with a different font).

Thank you both. I tried importing the PDF straight into photoshop but I still lost quality. Can anyone recommend other 3rd party apps, either paid or free?
