Help with pop ups

Hi, this is my post so sorry if my question is a bit easy.

What I would like to know is.... when I pause my mouse over something on the tool bar a window opens with an explanation of what I have paused on. How do I stop this happening? I use MS Vista.

I dont think you can (easily) stop it....

You could try this but most likely it will only disable tooltips (ths is how theyre called) in Windows only, not in installed applications.

Thanks for the link. I have looked at the instructions but I am afraid that I don’t know where to find the HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop could you direct me please?

Go to Start and type regedit. It will get you to the Registry Editor. Search for the key there.

Hi,
I have just followed the link you kindly provided and restarted my computer (just in case).

Unfortunately I am still having the same problem. Could there be something wrong with my computer?

I am a real numpty when it comes to computers.
