Help with purchasing a used computer...Specs inside

Hey, guys,
There's a guy I know who is interested in selling his computer...he says it's "really" good, but I'm not too sure. The basic specs he gave me are listed below. It seems like I need more specifics than this, but I'm not a computer savvy person, so not too sure what to ask or even what to look for.

"its about a year old
512mb crossfireable ati vid card
3gig duel core processor
80gig main hard drive 500 gig external hard drive
21" lcd monitor
4gigs of ram
dvd burner
gaming mouse
crappy keyboard
licenced copy of windows vista 32 bit but im running an illegal copy of windos 7 64bit"

That's what he told me verbatim. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hard to tell you without knowing what any of the parts are. A 512MB ATI card could be anything from an old X-series to a new 5000-series, and the dual core could be anything from a crappy Pentium D to a newer Core 2 or Phenom.

See if you can get the model numbers of everything.

unless he can put the names, models and brands of the components i wouldn't even bother to pay attention to him/her

Hey, here are a few more details on the system I was looking at:

ATI Radeon HD 3850

Processors:
Intel(R) Core(tm) Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00 Ghz
Intel(R) Core(tm) Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00 Ghz

Seems okay to me-any thoughts on the value of this machine? Should I get more details?

Thanks a bunch for the help!

I wouldn't buy it at all. It's a part of the botnet thanks to the pirated OS. You could definitely build better for less (probably).
