Help with RAM

When i first installed my xp...i had to do it with only one stick of my duel ram...or it wouldnt work...now tat iv installed it..i want to add the other stick...but the system wont boot when the other stick is in....any suggestions?

Also..im trying to understand my mobo manual....whats is single side dimm and double side dimm...are they referring to duelchannel and single channel?.,,,..this decides which slots i put the ram in

Is it for the system thats in your signature?

If not, what motherboard? You could have a dead memory slot or that other chip is bad.
