I fixed the problem with my Windows, but now since the installation of a new Windows xp I have no sound. I get the error message:
"There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices go to Control panel, click Printers and Other Hardware and then click add hardware". After looking in device manager - sound, video and game controllers there is listed:
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media Control Devices
Video Codecs
Which all say they are working fine.
After looking in DxDiag it says under sound "No sound card was found. If one is expected, you should install a sound driver provided by the hardware manufacturer." Sound was working fine before Windows installation. Like I said, its an older computer, so I have no idea what brand or model my sound card is, or even if I had one before. ANy Help?
