Hey guys, new to this forums and have done a fair amount of looking around and there is a lot of information here!
I have a few questions that pertain specifically to me and i figured i would ask them and see if anyone can help.
I am looking to upgrade my CPU, my motherboard is am2+ socket,(A780GM-a v1) and I want to put a am3 phenom quad core in it. I was looking into a phenom x4 965, read its a decent processor and i think will do the trick.
I would upgrade everything, but i already have 8 gigs of ram and a nice video card that works well, CPU is the only thing I need upgraded.
I cant find specifically if this board will support AM3 CPU's. I looked at flashing the bios and that looks easy to do, and i looked at the updated drivers for my board.
one of the update notes was ( Now supports AMD 6 core CPU's).. if an update made the mobo support a 6 core cpu, then it must support the am3 socket right? they didnt make a 6 core am2+ did they?
----the update for the bios were it says support 6 core cpu

-----my motherboard, its version 1.0

One other question, if am3 does fit, does that mean that am3+ will fit? because i have seen a few AM3+ cpu's i like...for example the FX 4100....cheap and looks decent.
