Help! with windows 7

Hi,

I really need some help. I bought a computer of someone, he put windows 7 on it. I want to go back to windows XP because it is more compatible with my old games and programmes. Ive put the windows XP ISO image onto a cd but I dont know what to do from there, ive tried running the cd but the option to install windows xp has been blocked off so I cant click it. '

You need to boot from the disc.

With the cd in the drive, restart the computer and keep tapping the "Esc" key.
That should bring you to a boot menu, allowing you to boot from the disc.

If that doesn't work, try tapping "F12" when it restarts. Or "F10". Or "F1".

If the Esc key doesn't work, one of the "F" keys should.
 
I just tried that but it says "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press any key", even with the cd in the computer.
 
I dont think windows 7 will allow for you to downgrade to windows xp. Myabe try and put that hard drive into another pc, and format it. Then Re-Install Widnows Xp.
 
Or you can try to go into your bios, probably the DEL key, and set the priority boot device to dvd drive, then the second boot device to hard drive. Hopefully that can help.

That means your burn process failed. The disc is bad.

With a proper boot disc, you can format and install over any OS.

Your suggestion wont work with a bad install disc. I think the problem
here may be that it's a burned copy of XP. Pirated perhaps?
 
thanks for the help guys, ill probably just have to get another copy of windows XP since mine is not working :D
 
did you just put the iso on the disc or did you use nero to burn disc image or w/e program you use?
