So I have a perfectly good DVD drive in my comp. I can burn dvds with no problem. But when I want to burn a cd with windows media player it doesnt detect that theres a drive:mad:.. Will it just not work because its a DVD bruner or what?

That may be the problem. It has to be a CD/DVD-r combo in order to burn both.

Have you burned CD's with the drive in the past?

So I have the Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-111D drive. Says it can burn CD's as well as DVD's.. Anyone have any suggestions on why Wmp doesnt detect the drive?

ive had the problem before, it actually could be from cheap cd's or dvd's like memorex. if its not that then the laser could be weakening.

Well its not the cd's. Its Wmp itself that does not recognize the drive, as if theres no drive in my computer..

It says "Connect a burner and restart the Player"

Nope. No issues at all. I can burn Dvd's just fine with a different program. I tried to update the drivers but im up to date with them all.
