hi,

i'd like to purchase a wireless router. i'm totally green on that...
i have 100.0 Mbps LAN connection and because of a fact that i have a couple of laptops (in one of them 802,11b/g in the other 802,11g, i don't know how it is with ipod touch) and ipod touch and i'd like to get rid of the cables. i often stream, upload large files.
sorry in advance for lame questions...

1. i understand that having such a router i can get the internet in more then one computer...?

2. what do i need? :-P i mean what should i look for. i guess that it should be 100Mbps router, but what else should i look at?

thanks in advance for help,

regards,
Tomo

Your network connection is capable of getting 100 mbps, however most isp's don't even offer that fast of internet access. I have comcast and my speed package is only 20 mbps. How fast is your internet connection? Do a speedtest here.

it's a lot cheaper, why is that, numbers look tha same...

I have a previous model (specifically a WRT54G) and I have had it for 5 or 6 years. It works great, and when I need a new router, I would go for a Linksys, probably that one, unless a better one comes out.

i read some pretty good reviews... why is it s**t?

They just don't work for me. My Uncle has one, and my iPod Touch never connects, and I have to reset it to force it to accept my computer. Then, it disconnects my computer a lot, and I have to reconnect it.

For the same reasons above. Almost every Netgear I've got either came DOA, and if they didnt it would start constantly losing connection.

I have one of those netgears that a client of mine bought and their laptop wouldn't even work about 30 feet away from the router with only one bend around a corner. They are crap. I gave them my linksys wrt54g router which I loved and use the netgear one for a while until I can buy the upgraded wrt54gl router.

Stay away from belkin as well.
