Hey guys i have a few questions. To start i have fios internet and the router is located at the top of the property. I am about 300 feet away from the router.
We do have a ethernet cable under ground to our garage for my brother's xbox live but there is no computer up their!
Could i hook the router up with no computer, is that possible?

The best place to put it is upstairs in my garage where i can plug in the ethernet cable (coming from the main router) to the new linksys router i got. I could then use a short ethernet cable going to my brothers xbox. Is this possible? I see a One Touch Setup botton. The router is called Linksys Speed Booster Wireless G router.
Help asap!

I think i got it to work but my brothers xbox live will not work!?? is it possible to buy a ethernet splitter? (just like you can with a landline?)

The router is like a splitter. You should have:

modem
|
router
|
computers,xbox

if you have two routers, be sure that DHCP is turned off on the second one or you will have problems. You need to use it as a switch.

Also, be sure to either secure the wireless or disable it if you don't have any computers at home using wireless or you will be providing access to your network and/or free internet for the neighborhood.

I need the router upstairs because there is another house that needs to get a better signal as well. Do you guys suggest that i buy a 200 foot ethernet/cat5 cable and send it up to my house and hook it to my computer ? The router comes with a disc to set it up on the computer. I can then have access to any kind of settings the router has!

One more question:
I had the router plugged in and it seemed like it was working but i live in a rural area and i see a new unsecure network called Linksys. Would that be the new router i have set up? or since i had that router directly plugged to a cat5 from the main router would it be an add on of signal from the main router? basically the question is, when i have that router set up would it just act as a repeater on the same main router name? or would it be its own network, working off of the main router?

Sorry, kinda confusing but i really need help.
Jeff
