HELP xp back up disc

hi i need help im trying to make a back up disc on my gf laptop but how do i go about doing it and would a normly blank DVD disk do ?
 
Explain correctly what you are trying to accomplish. Are you wanting to back up the everything on your drive or just parts of it? Or are you trying to create a system recovery disk? Usually there is a program for making those installed if the manufacturer provided it.
 
well im trying to put her xp system on a disc so i can reinstal it as her computer is running very slow to what it use to and iv done scans and deleted loads of stuff and it still doing the same so i thought about deleting everything and reinstal xp so its like a new system
 
Laptops usually come with a recovery partition or (less likely) a reinstallation cd. Look in the owners manual on how to reinstall the operating system. You have to boot into the recovery partition by pressing a certain key at bootup, like f10, f11 or similar.
