Ok so I reinstalled XP clean on the origional C drive. I have vista ultimate on the d drive (same hd - just partitioned). But now when i turn on my computer it boots into XP everytime without even displaying the boot manager. What do I do to get vista bootable again? Here is my boot.ini file (im not a pro in this area lol)

[boot loader]
timeout=20
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

cheers

change timeout to -1 .that should give u the boot menu.

then u gotta add the vista line on the bottom. i dont remember exact line but its something like multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows Vista"

Thanks but it didnt work, the screen goes black and it just goes back to booting XP. Just to clarify both operating systems are on the same hardrive. xp on the C vista on the d. Does this equate to partition 1 and 2?
