Help!

My little sister has an emachiens and whenever you turn it on it goes to the screen with all users. I click hers and when i do everything looks alright until you click an icon on the desktop, then everything dissapears and it wont come back. nothing but the picture on the background is left. What could be the issue? Also she has a ton of pictures on there and she wants to keep them, if i put in a windows install disk and reloaded it woudl those pics be deleted?Thanks in advance

yeah, the pics would be deleted.
that problem comes from Explorer.exe crashing because of a heavy load.
how old is the PC?

When did it start?

doe it do that when you click on start? if not goto to her pictures from there.

boot windows into safe mode and then move her picture to other source.

try the windows recovery, if you have it on, it may fix the problem. If it does not it will give you a little time before the your problem starts again, in that period move all your pictures to a external source.

has xp home, and it just started doing it she said.

then if you boot off the disc and do a repair you wont lose anything

I have an xp installation disk will that allow me to do a repair from that disk if i put it in then start the co

as long as it is the xp home disk, rember, dont do a format

Will there be a menu that i can choose to repair not format?
