Help!!!

Someone gave me a Gateway tower, only problem is is that it's password protected and no one knows the password! I guess that's why it was free, huh?

If I were to buy a new OS would that get rid of the password protection?

What other ways can I bypass the password or get rid of it?

The tower is only a few years old and is running Windows XP.

Where is the password? Is it a BIOS password requiring you to enter the password to boot, or is it a logon screen password?

Though, this is a hazy post. We've been getting a lot of these questions lately.
