I am new to this forum and i just have some questions:
I have a Compaq Presario 6000 Series 6330CA
Pentium 4 CPU 2.00 GHz
1.99 GHz, 248 MB of RAM
60GB HD

1. What should i upgrade to make my computer faster?
2. Would more RAM make my computer faster?
3. Computer is full of dust how would i clean it out?

Thanks

1. A whole new computer.

2. 1 more GB and see a huge improvement.

3. Compressed air. Do not use water or any type of liquid. Do not use a vaccum either, as they can generate static.

1. Agreed
2. Would also see a Huge improvement but, thats about the only thing you can upgrade on old machines like that.
3. True

Dont get, its cr*p and Im sure it will be over priced, also Vista is not reckonmend with only 1gb ram. You'll want at least 2gb for Vista, some will disagree but generally its rather ram intensive.

That build also doesnt seem to have any graphics meaning theres onboard, not a good sign but like you said you wont really need a graphics card unless your gaming, what do you mean by the "odd game" cause they make a difference to what you'll need.

haha well it will do those just fine. However I still reckonmend something else, like cohen above, a custom build will be alot alot better for price, you can be surprised at what you can get nowadays.

for a budget i would like it to not be very much like under $500 if possible cause im not doing any gaming or anything i just want a computer that can do every day things like surf the web and listen to music and run msn with little lag.. or load time

OK, i'll get to it now

OK, he we go:

Total - $503.94

The motherboard has an onboard video which is 256MB shared, it will be fine with what emac227 is wanting to do.

Emac227 - This computer will be fine with what you are wanting to do.

I agree, Much nicer. Although one question, you can get Irock IR11A cases with PSU for 70 bucks NZ. Dont know about Canada but you can save money by not getting such a pretty case and using the money for what matters??

Just my two cents, but other than that pretty good for the price.

are any of those 3 i posted decent

the second is definetely the best, as its not AMD and its clockspeed is above 2.2GHZ.

it would definitely be ok for your needs, but videos and flash-based anything will lag because of the lack of a video card.
