Just finished my build and booted into windows. I have 3 gigs of ddr3 installed but on the main screen vistas only recognizing two gigs. Bad stick of ram or whats going on please elaborate.

i think it depends on what bit OS you have that determines how much ram is recognized. 32bit and 64bit recognize different amounts.

32 bit shows 3.25 gigs of ram max, and 64 bit is like in the hundreds, so its not your os do you have 3 1 gig sticks? take all three out and test one at a time put it in see if it boots if it boots take it out a try a differnt stick thats how you can find the bad stick bad stick wont boot

Some motherboards require you too occupy a even number of slots at a time. Like if you had four banks, it would require you to occupy slots 1&2 or slots 3&4 or all four of them. Not sure on your board or not. Also do like ronster said, thats the best way to test the stick individually.

What motherboard do you have? Do you have a core I7 build?

Already explained this is my 2nd board and once again bad board. The middle ram slot is defective and not reading the ram. All ram sticks are fine each were tested. This whole thing is just bull crap.
