Help!

I am a Freshman in high school. I was given a used laptop, and it has alot of old memory on it. I wanted to know how to format it to the schools factory settings, and not get in trouble.

Is it yours to own or did they lend it to you? I'm asking this because I'm not sure why you would get in trouble if it was given to you.

Also, what is the Brand and Model of the laptop (usually the model number is on a sticker on the bottom)?
