Help??

hi i wonder if anyone can help me my computer recently crashed and was on windows 7 after being upgraded from xp originally when it crashed i had to reinstall xp home and update it to sp3 now since i've done this none of my usb slots work they light up when connected but nothing comes up and they dont display on my computer. i've tried going control panel and tried updating driver but it says could not find and more recent hardware ive uninstalled + reinstalled but to no joy can anyone help please?

When you say crashed, what exactly happened? If the power supply caused an overvoltage on the usb ports they probably are shot now.

basically the hdd got corrupt and i had to add a new 1 and re install windows on that
