Hey guys i have this game called Rome Total War...and some times it crashes to the desktop...this is because i have a dual core CPU ...4200 and it does not support X2..so they tell me to set my affinity to 1 core...

i know how to do this....but everytime i exit the game the affinity goes back to 2 cores..how can i keep it at 1 core
 
okay first things first are you running the intel dual core utility. ie cool n quiet. because this will always use dual core capability.

The second way is in the task manager, right clicking the application and then click go to set affinity. you need to set it to processor ID 0,

the problem with this method is that you always have to set the priority every time you start the application. Personally I don't think its the fact you have a dual core. I have played Rome Total War on my system using a dual core AMD processor. But i have AMD's dual core optimiser and AMD Processor driver as well.

Are you sure its not just a corrupt EXE

Re-install the game and see if that helps. I love that game :)
Use a utility like other people said.
