ok, my mobo is in my sig. when i turn the comp on, this is the first time... so when i do, the 4 red lights, all of them go off expect for the last one, this is normal i think, meaning that the VGA has been detected and all. but then a hear a beep and the cpu fan stops, WHAT IS GOING ON???

also the CMOS, i dont have the red switch thing for it, its not on there, is this a problem??

everything is brand new, this comp has just been built, this is the first time that ive tried to install windows XP pro on to it, but neither hdd or dvd is being detected as IDE slave or master. and when i boot it up, after about 5 secs, the cpu fan turns off, but the comp still runs, so this is a bit of a problem...i really need some help.

A big problem it seems. If it is all new i do not see the problem. When modding my pc the same happenned to me but the whole pc shut off.

How i fixed it??

Take all the cables out and re-cable, step-by-step to make sure you have noy left anything out and everything is in the right place.

In relation to the fan problem, when you hear them power down have you looked to see if they actually stop spining? Because when you first switch a computer on all fans within it will spin at their highest possible RPM up until the point that they have properly initialised, then, after (which is usually about 5 seconds into booting) they slow down to an average normal speed which would make the sound of them spinning go considerably quiter.

How do you have your HDD and CD/DVD Drives setup? HDD on primary master and CD/DVD Drive on secondary master? Or both on the same IDE channel? Have you configured the jumpers on both the HDD and the CD/DVD drive to that of their positioning on the IDE channels? Have you reseated the cables? Meaning taken them out and put them back in? Have you configured the boot sequence within your bios? Set the HDD to master etc? Have you checked to make sure that your bios is configured to detect hardware automatically?

Check Your Jumper Cables for doubling up, If there is A double up, 2 things can happen, computer will show only ONE of the items, or NONE at all.

i think ive found the problem. i took the hdd out and whacked it in this comp, it did the same thing. so ive put it down to my hdd being faulty. would it still be recognised in the bios if it was faulty? coz when i put the hd from this comp into mine, it loads it, but i goes cannot load operatiing system, becuase of the fact that its not ment for that mobo. so do u think my hdd is faulty?
