help?

well i have $1000 for the computer i'm making..or a little more i guess..but i'm making it mostly for gaming... so the cpu's what makes it fast so i want the best one for a decent price ya know

Well you can't just get a top of the line CPU, the skimp on everything else.....the CPU, along with your RAM, mobo (to some extent), gfx card, etc, all work with each other to make the system fast, etc. If you buy the best Core 2 Duo there is, and get some piece of crap mobo, ram, and vid card, you won't get the performance you'll want out of the processor.

As for a recomendation, I too would recomend a Core 2 Duo by Intel....they currently beat AMD in MOST benchmarking tests.

Some links would help, so we could check out the specs of the parts....

Also, how much is this gonna cost you?

As for HDD's...I have two of the 250gb model running in RAID 0...no problems, run really well and silent. They were cheap, too, each one had a $10 MIR....

In general, you're going to want to downgrade your CPU and upgrade your graphics card. Consider stepping down to an E6600 or even an E6400.

34erd is correct, the X1300 is a budget graphics card, and will do poorly at modern gaming. Also, don't forget to factor a decent PSU into the budget.

How much is that now? Sorry, I don't feel like adding them up :P

You could keep that processor, but really you can put it down to a E6400 or E6300 if you need to scale it down some, though I am not saying that an E6600 is bad :)
