as you can see in the pic my current max resolution is 1280 x 1024. but if i click on the dropdown where it says display i get another option saying my max res is 1920x1440. i cant select the second option. does anyone know why?

sorry if it doesnt make sence
 
Your'e switching between monitors... Do you have another monitor plugged in? If not, it's probably just going to the card's max resolution or something.
 
You're not making sense :)

So are you saying that when you select the secondary monitor and it tells you have a max res of 1920X1440 it doesn't work? If so, it's cause you're playing with the settings of monitor 2, not your primary one.
 
Well like I said, you're going between monitors. See on the bottom, the option "Extend my Windows Desktop..." option lights up when you're on the 2nd display.
 
ok i didnt think i was making sence. what i wanted to know is why it is saying i have 2 monitors plugged in and if i can use the res of the second one for playing games

edit : number one is the one im using yet nothing is plugged into 2 and it still says its default
