Okay so I used to use Roadrunner from Time Warner, short story-I loved it, fast reliable, always worked no problem. But it was somewhat expensive so my parents wanted to save money they went to At&t for phone and SBC for internet. OH MY GOD it sucks it doesn't even load half the time it doesn't work with either of our Netgear routers most of the time. When it does work(by work I mean connect)then 50% of the time, no exaggeration, it doesn't even load a page! When it does load it takes 20 seconds on even the fastest pages! I hate it! Does anyone have any tips on how to make this *year* experience any better?

time warner is cable am i right ?

Cable is faster then DSL and easier to setup

DSL, if you want to use a router you have to set your modem up on bridged ethernet and set your router up for a PPPOE connection and provide the user name and pw for your account. this may be why you cant get it to work with your netgear router.

alot of things can cause DSL to suck, more then it does already.
just in the house wiring alone the phone wires are spliced more then tv cable and the smaller wires tend to break. you should have a dedicated cat 5 from the telcom point of attachment to your modem jack. check your other lines by
disconnecting them from the phone box outside your house to see if your internet works better.

I worked in the router settings page for quite a bit of time setting up a PPPOE connection including the password but performance is still shotty

And yes Time Warner is cable....I miss you Roadrunner...
