Hey,

I'm here on the behalf of a friend.
He is looking at getting some new components for his rig.
The components he needs consist of

1) Motherboard that will support AM2 socket, and will support his radeon 9600 256MB graphics card
2) CPU that is AMD and is AM2 socket.
The max he can spend is $300 USD.

He mostly will be using his computer for FPS games, such as counter-strike.

Thanks.

first off never half-upgrade a motherboard. when upgrading a motherboard, you must buy new processor, new ram, new GFX card and if necessary a new PSU. i cannot suggest using a 9600 anywhere within two miles of an AM2 computer. the better choice will be to spend about 100 dollars and get something like the X1900PRO and overclock it.

Like Lovely? said, you'll need alot of new things... Intel may be an way to look at it too. Maybe an E4300, P31 ds3L, 1GB RAM, 7600/7900?

Would he be interested in Intel's?

What is his PSU specs? His could be too low to even support an upgrade...

i think he is focusing on an AM2 socket because he already has a proc? correct me if im wrong please...
