Helping a friend with virus removal.

Please navigate to this directory.

C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

And delete the file ixamr.exe

Did you do the following procedure from my last post?

Go to start > control panel > Display properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop... > Web tab
Select any instances of "Privacy Protection" you find in there and press the delete button on the right.

After deleting the ixamr file from the startup folder and doing the above procedure, post a fresh hijackthis log.

Then click on fix checked at the bottom.

Since Ccleaner isn't installed lets go ahead and download it and run it so it will clean up all the old temp files and stuff from the system and it should speed it up a little bit.

Download Ccleaner

http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/

Install it and then set it up with the options that are checked in the attached image, then click on run cleaner.

You should now be done.

Thanks so much I really appreciate all your help. How did you learn how to use all the programs, read all the logs, etc.? I'm currently studying CS in school and may be headed towards the computer security field. Any wisdom you can pass on to me would be awesome.

Thanks again

If you want to learn how to read logs and use software to remove infections then I would recommend you to go through "boot camp" at one of the following forums.
