Is there even an LED on the motherboard?

PS is my first suggestion. Just cause the led is on doesnt mean its working.

Make sure though:

1. The switch is properly connected and nothings broken
2. Make sure the switch it connected to the motherboard
3. Make sure that the PS switch isnt on O
4. Make sure you plugged the 20 pin in firmly

If all doesnt work, either fried motherboard or fried PSU.

MOBO - If your an hardcore overclocked
PSU - Same reason as above as overclocking puts stress on the ps.

yeh thos things are the first things i checked thanks for the relpy. yh my mother board has a led its a asus p5w delux i dont overclock. might it be stactic damage? usualy the led on the mobo is always green when you have the psu on but now its just off and nuthing happens when you press the on button it happend at night the graphic card fan span fast like it does on start up. then the pc just went dead and it smelt a bit like burning :(

If you have an extra Power Supply around the house i would start there, based of the "burning smell" that would be my first guess.

What are the specs of your computer? An power supply is extremely cheap these days.

I am powering my:

E4300 w/ Stock fan + AS5
DDR2 533 1GB
DVD-RW
CD-RW
Floppy
Nvidia GeForce 7300LE PCI-E
Abit IP-95

I'm powering this with an 600W 12+ @ 24A

- One of those ripoff ones on ebay. Cost me less than $30 US..
