Hercules Digifire 7.1 and Creative speakers?

Hi,

I am planning to buy a Hercules Digifire 7.1 and planning to but Creative 5.1 or 6.1 speakers. I was told by a dealer that Creative speakers work well only with Creative sound cards. With a Hercules the sound quality might be poor. Is that so?

It could be...
These tiny speakers usually have a bad frequency response and the audio card boosts some frequencies that are atenuated by the speakers. And I think that the Creative sound cards are specially designed to enhance the Creative speakers output.
Anyway, this kind of speaker setup is not a good choice for music auditions...
