Thats because thats the price of a single FX-72, the chart above are the prices for two FX-72's, which you need in order to use 4x4.

even at those prices i would still go for a C2D for max performance, plus that to intel dropping prices on the 22nd, theres still no contest, but then again, this price drop from AMD was never meant to be a big thing, their new K8L architecture is supposed to be their saviour, lets hold on tight for a while to see if it is...

lol, it's a bit confusing. They wont allow you to buy a single FX-7x CPU, you need to buy them in pairs.
