I asked this question years ago and don't remeber what other people here told me. anyway here it gos again.

Is possible to overclock my PC? I am getting a new one but its will not be untill next year when the school starts.

SO i don't realy care if i missed up this one. BUt i would like to use it for atleast 4 month. Ofcourse the longer i can use it the better. ^^

My pc is Sony vaio PCV-RX550
1.5GHz P4
400 MHz Front side Bus
512 MB SDRAM
300GB Hardrive

IT would be nice if i can get it to 1.8GHz or higher but even with .1GHz inprovment will make me happy.

Please let me know what i need if it is possible to overclock it.

and how long the CPU will last with the overclock, if you say it will last 5 month and it die in 1 day than that can't be helped, its all good.

Thanks

when you reboot, you should see a logo of sony or something. when you do, hit the button it says(typicallly f10 or delete)to enter the bios. to check, see if you can find any changable settings associated to cpu speed, or fsb.

You wont be able to overclock in the BIOS.

Most likely you cant overclock your computer, since it's a sony. And overclocking in Windows may also be out of the question, since when i had a new Dell they somehow "lock" the speeds, so if you try to raise it by 1Mhz, the system locks up.
