Yea, thanks ku-sama rambo mentioned that earlier and im looking into it now.
If they don't list it on their site its probably whatever brand they can get for the cheapest at the time, or a cheap generic brand.

Well guys, building a pc myself would be a great experienc, especially since I want to be a computer engineer 0_0!!! The only thing is my parents have it in their head that I cant do it myself, and that it is so hard.......Ive told them, even showed them how simple it would be but, they wont have it so therefore Im left with buying a prebuilt system *sigh*, and when vista comes out early 2007 im thinking......Ill get another gig of ram

That is exactly how my parents were a year ago. I just started collecting old computer systems and playing with them, and a year later, they said sure, build your own, because I showed them with old machines that I know what I am doing.

Good idea, also I would go for the easiest one to manipulate, sometimes the more technologically adcanced person will understand how easy it is, but other times its better if they don't have a clue. Also try and find someone that your parents trust and that knows a lot about computers, preferebly they would have built their own. Have them help them to convince your parents by saying that they will help you build it and make sure you don't mess anything up.

It's one thing having your parents doubt you, but it's another saying that you won't be able to do it. When I first wanted to build a PC, my mum didn't say anything like "Are you sure you will be able to do it..." etc, she just said "Ok". One month later after I researched into how they work, what to do/buy, I came out with a fully working PC. My mum was so surprised/shocked. She admitted to me that she did not think I would be able to do it, but she didn't stop me from doing so.

It really annoys me when parents say that you "can't do it" or "it's too hard for you". Who are they to say what you will or won't be able to achieve in life? I built my first PC after one month of research, at 14 years old. I learned how to play guitar all on my own. I learnt how to fish with all the right equipment, how to build websites good enough that my mum asked me to make one for her company.

You can do ANYTHING as long as you put your mind to it.

Seriously, that is kind of messed up that your parents don't support you, well at least not for this, and don't believe you can do it. Tell them to trust you and that you are the one who has to pay the consequences if it gets messed up. Just keep working on them eventually you will say something that will put them at ease, not something to tick the off, and they will let you do it. Ask them why they think that you won't be able to do it, find out all of their doubts to make then understand.

Being a parent with teenage kids, I have a pretty good idea what will work. Take responsibility and you should get your way. Tell them that if you mess it up, or it doesn't work, you will make sure it is fixed, at your expense. Tell them, you will even do extra chores, take a part time job, or whatever it takes to make up for any inconvenience or expense it causes them. Assure them that you will take full responsibility for any problem and that you've researched the subject enough to have the confidence to make sure you can handle it.

I'm always pleased to let my kids have their way, if they act as an adult would have to. Your parents are worried that they will be out the money if you fail . Assure them that neither you or they will suffer any consequences because of your decision to build one. Make sure that your parents win if you fail. In fact, offer all this and to work an extra 40 hours on home chores if you fail to end up with a good working computer, and you will get your way. ;)
