Okay..
My wireless connection on my desktop has stopped working; sometimes it says it's connected, sometimes it says there's no internet access. Even when it says it's connected, i still can't get actual internet access

Things to point out:-
I have done several virus scan including software with Combo Fix, SuperAntiSpyware, Bullguard, Kasperskys root kit killer, and Malware Bytes. A rootkit was found and deleted and 4 trojans were removed.

Every single computer in the house has a perfect connection.

I tried a different wireless adapter on my desktop and i still couldn't get a connection.

I have tried connecting in safe mode; same results.

I have NOT tried connection via ethernet as it's effort.. :D ;) However it's most likely recommended to try, but i thought i'd see if you guys had any ideas first.

So, any ideas? :)

Glenn.

When the internet drops can you still connect to the router either through the user interface or using the ping command (if its set up to respond to pings)

Thats where I would start...

Kick it repeatedly?
If that doesn't work then I would give up.
Hmmm, have you tried re-installing all of the drivers it came with?
Maybe you disable it on accident somehow?
Have you tried restoring the machine, maybe partitioning it and dual booting with another OS so you can tell if it's a virus, well a repercussion of a virus before it was removed?

Just some ideas :P.

Have you checked with your ISP?

From the way you're describing the problem, that sounds like a possible cause and even if the problem seems to have cleared up, I'd still check.

Sorry for the late reply, all the other computers connection went down too and it turned out to be the router. cheers though guys :)
