Hey guys.

A friend of mine decided to download some malicious files on my computer (he honestly didnt know though) and i have been infected.

Now, BitDefender cannot acces the files as they are in my C:/System Volume Information folder.

Everytime I try to enter that folder, I get an Access denied popup.

I tried what microsoft says (change security settings etc) but to no avail.

can somebody help me get into this folder, so that i can ge rid of this stupid thing...

here is where its located.

C:\System Volume Information\_restore{81766F0F-11FA-4F60-BB82-76F0932DF0A9}\RP414\A0104324.exe=](RAR Sfx o)=] - Trojan.Dropper.TDR

That say's "OEMKEYGEN". Sorry, I'm not going to be involved with this.

he tried to get a patch, and that is what got loaded on when he tried to save it...

honestly. all my games are real, no copies or downloads.

I get ****ed off when im tryna play CoD4 online and i find somebody is using my key...

If those are the only locations for the malware then that is the system restore folder. If for some reason Malwarebytes doesn't clean it then you can just disable system restore which will flush all restore points and get rid of the infection and then you can reenable system restore.

As John says, turn off "System Restore" and this will flush any viruses being held there otherwise doing a restore at any time will put you back to square one. Once disabled run Malwarebytes and post a Hijackthis log.
It should be common practice to flush all restore points when a virus is detected on a system as any auto restore point will save the infected file in "System Volume".

i ran malwarebytes.

it never got rid of it. Bit Defender still picks it up.
