hey hey! gonna upgrade! just need some advice. =)

Sup guys? I'm currently running a GeForce 7300GS and I really don't have a lot of cash. So I'm planning to upgrade to either a 8500GT or 8600GT. I know most of you will tell me to get the 8600GT instead, but what is the difference between the two? Is the performance and power between the two that big of a deal? Thanks guys!

They're selling the 8500GT at 512mb and the 8600GT only comes in 256mb. So which is better???

Even though 8600GT will also suffer with forthcoming games,but for the games available till date can be played quite well by 8600GT at some good resolution but not the highest resolution.Where as 8500 suffers with those games too.

To be honest, I'd rather get a high end DX9 card, if you want a DX10 card, I wouldn't get anything lower than an 8800.

Something like a 7900GS or a 7950GT may be better. I can play all the games out not on full settings, high res. and with a great FPS.

alright. i'll save up for the 8800 instead. i wanted to upgrade to a DX10 card in the first place.

Yeah, I really think you should either get a really good DX 9 card or a really good DX10 one, the mid range DX10 cards are not worth it at the moment.
