Dvd Drive Or Media?

How could I test the ability of my DVD burner to read DVDs? I mean I have used DVDInfo for checking for CRC errors on a disk that reports errors. It's a backup of Unreal Tournament 2004. However, throughout the installation, I get errors that prevent me from fully installing the game. My question is....if the drive reports no CRC errors, then is the problem in the files themselves?

1. Whats the firmware rev
2. Have you tried doing an image dump and/or copying the files etc
3. Try the disc on another computer
4. What errors do you get (normal CRC errors or something special)

1. Whats the firmware rev - 1.04
2. Have you tried doing an image dump and/or copying the files etc - Not yet.
3. Try the disc on another computer - Wish I could ;)
4. What errors do you get (normal CRC errors or something special) - As far as the errors are concerned, they have to do with the files being reportedly corrupt. Note that DVDInfo reported no CRC errors whatsoever.

Oh well

I have tried dumping the image with Alcohol 120% abd the image came up with the same error concerning corrupt files (the same ones). So I guess the problem was with the media used. I used cheap DVD media (GIGAMASTER) and just by looking at it, I could see it's not good. I then checked on the net and the atip of the media and some people report a failure rate of up to 40%. I guess that's why.
