HHD questions

Help please
I have a problem with a hhd , It starts up ok and runs in safe mode ok but when starting normaly it takes for ever to load and sounds as though its loading a lot of programs then freezes and the blue screen of death appears stating a fault, I dont have any start up disks for xp and I really want to keep office 2003,the fault reads : stop 0x0000008e(0xc0000005,0xf64eb80e,oxf52b3a20,0x00000000 ) any Ideas? thanks
 
possibly failing, is it making any wierd noises when you start the computer up?
like a really loud scratching noise?
