Hey guys, I just signed up and this looks like a very cool place!

I'm really dumb when it comes to computers, so please talk to me like I just fell onto this earth. lmao

I have a desktop computer (emachines) that the fan stopped working a few years back. For a while I had a table top fan blowing on it which worked fine. For whatever reason though (don't remember why now) it was used without the fan, and now when I turn on the computer, nothing happens. The light on the tower lights up and it sounds like it's booting up, but nothing comes up on the screen.

My question is, what is it that most likely went bad? Motherboard? Power supply? Hard drive? Like I said, I don't know what any of these do (again, very dumb), it's just terms I've heard thrown around. lmao I would LOVE to be able to get back onto this computer, as there are some important things on there I would like to retrieve. I run websites for a living, so I really could use some of the things on there.

Is there any other way I could retrieve the data? I have a couple other emachines desktops as well (different models), so is there any way I could use one of the others to get the stuff off it?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks! :)

if you need the data off of the hard drives you could try plugging the hard drives into the other computers, as long as there are remaining ide or sata ports.

Yes, monitor is plugged in.

I did try to plug the hard drive into one of the computers (unplugged the original hard drive) but nothing happened.

Any ideas?

Any idea what might need to be replaced?

Thanks, keep them coming!

ok if your moniter is plugged in... well when the computer turns on is there nuthin on the moniter dose it beep if so how many times
