hi everyone

Im turning 16 in may and will be getting a laptop for my birthday. I want something that is very fast, has the newest technology and will last for a very long time without any problems (3-5 years?). The budget is between $1000 to $2000. I was thinking about getting a macbook, but alot of people say they suck and have shitty hardware. I can buy one if it is good since i wont be gaming. But I was thinking maybe I could get a windows 7 laptop which has much higher specs for around the same price. Im looking for a 15 inch screen. I am not a retard and can manage a computer so im not really worried about getting viruses and stuff and I am familiar with windows. If the macbooks are really superior, i am willing to switch. I will be mainly using my laptop for highschool, web browsing, watching movies, music and entertainment. I am not really interested in gaming. I dont do editing and stuff which i think the macs are good for. Please help me out.

thanks

If you don't want to do any gaming and looking for a hassle free laptop for college I would suggest getting a macbook pro. The college I go to is filled with about 50% MBC (mostly 13" ones) and they're VERY nice laptops.

the 13" one? isn't the screen a bit too small? and it has the core 2 duo processor -_- i would have to get the 15" one for the i5 and i7 is just too expensive. are they quiet? do they overheat alot? is it really worth it or am i just better off getting a windows 7 laptop with better specs

13" screen is pretty nice. I've used plenty of 13" MBP and the screen size is plenty big for your regular word processing and internet browsing. They're pretty quiet but do will overheat if you keep it in one of those sleeves. Personally I think MBPs are worth the money. You can probably get a more powerful regular old windows laptop but it will not come close in build quality as the MBP.
