High Temps! Need Help!

Sounds like it's not seated right, or doesn't have enough thermal paste (or it's some cheapo kind). Even with a stock cooler, it shouldn't be that hot.

Have you checked to make sure the heatsink is installed properly? You should also try using a better thermal paste, like Arctic Silver, if you haven't already.

well it does not mean that there is too little thermal paste at all. it could be too much or too little. either way i would suspect dust, or the fan could not be mounted right, airflow in your case could be bad, those are all possibilities.

I've heard of people who haven't cleaned their cases for years, and after using some compressed air, their temps go down dramatically.

It's possible...

Yeah I slowed it down to 2.93. (I guess that's how you put it.) It's been a little min since I cleaned it. Bout to do that right now. Here's a pic of the guts of my computer.

Please elaborate. Heatsink? Thermal Paste (Arctic Silver) I'm trying to learn. Please teach me. (Then I won't have to bother you guys as much!) ;)

Also I dl ATITOOLS. I'm not too sure how to read or operate it. Anybody mind giving me some pointers.

Judging from that picture the heat sink isn't seated at all just hanging by the thermal paste, as the snap on s or whatever you call them aren't like

The heat sink is the blue fan on top of the circuit board (motherboard.)

Thermal paste is what connects the copper base of the heat sink to your processor in order to cool it properly. :)

Okay is there a way for me to remove it? Or should I try to have some1 else do it? I'm pretty sure I can do it. If you can explain. I'm willing to learn.

However.....If you don't see me on here for a while, you'll know I did something wrong. lol ;)

Can you get a closer picture of the heatsink? It looks a little wonky to say the least... It may be some cool, funky design though?

There's a fair bit of dust on there too, if you can, get a can of compressed air and blow that motha out!

Will do! I'll finally have some income after a month of not working! So I'll be able to take care of it. I'll get a pic when I can. I have a huge Halloween party I'm throwing at my house, so I have lots to do.

What time do you want us there?

Ok, sure. I doubt you'll need to buy a new one, it's probably just not on right.
