High Temps ?

I ran Prime95 test just for around 10 minutes to check my load temps and they were just about hitting 70 Degrees. Isn't that high considering everything is at stock, I haven't overclocked or anything.

CPU - i5 3570k
Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

For it not being OC'ed, it should be in the mid/high 50's. Even with stock HSF (if done correctly) should give you pretty good temps(with NO OC). But I see you have an after market HSF, the 212 EVO. Which by the way is a pretty good cooler. Quick question; did you use the already applied paste, or did you buy something like AS5 and applied it yourself? Maybe you put to much, or to little of paste. Try re-applying the paste, this time apply a rice sized amount in the middle on the CPU and screw the HSF down, crisscrossing.

There wasn't any paste already applied so I had to apply it myself.
Are temps potentially damaging to the CPU. Because it's a hassle reapplying the thermal paste.

Is there a way to increase the CPU fan speed ? The fan seems to be going very slow at the moment. Perhaps that might help the temps.

The CM 212 Evo should be much better than those temps.
I would take it off, clean both CPU and 212 Evo and re-apply thermal paste.
Just put a grain of rice of thermal paste in the middle of the CPU and, as tech savvy said, screw the HSF back in crisscrossing.
Make sure the CPU fan is the CPU header on the motherboard (usually at the top of the mobo near the CPU socket)

I have built a PC with the same cooler and CPU, overclocked to 4.2GHz, and it kept the CPU at 65C after 24 hours of prime95

I just ran the test again for an hour and the max temps was 65 Degrees Celsius.

I know this is a high temp, but I have rebuilt my computer so many times in the past 2 weeks, I just can't be bothered taking everything out again :D

Will I limit the CPU life in any way if I just leave the CPU running at that temp ?

Once I start overclocking I will re apply the cooler.

What thermal paste did you use? Maybe it needs time to set in(burn-in).

Anyway, 65 is at max load(stressing), which you will not be doing under normal use, even gaming wont put it at max. So by that, you should be fine untill you want to OC. But you really need to re apply the paste before any OC, period. In my experience, when CPU's runs above 70c, it products lag. But really, how long will it take to re apply the paste...5-10min?

The ivy's sure do cook pretty well...:(

For comparison.. my 3770K at 4.6 and 1.2V still hits 75-80 at 100%

No issues though and machine is rippin fast..

I dont have experience with your ivy but sure seems on the high side for stock .. I wonder if it is a paste issue, not seated quite right, or just needs more time after application of paste/.

I used the paste that came bundled with the CMHyper 212 evo.

I just tried the test again now, and the temps were around 60 Celsuis, so it's getting better.

I use the same set-up...

28C ish when idle, but goes all the way up to 67C under load (overclocked at 4.3Ghz).

I use NZXT Lexa S...

Very strange.
Just did a blend test for 5 minutes again. Temps were in their mid 50's.

I guess the paste just needed time to sink in. Or perhaps the house temperature was high yesterday.

Oh well, just hope the temps stays that way. 55 Celsuis is quite decent right ?

It's most likely that then, if it's falling in temps each time you stress it.

You're going to kill it at 80oC.

It's a bit off topic, but 80C isn't gonna kill his CPU.
It's rated for 95C, but of course the lower the better.
He also said it was at 100% load, which means that it probably only gets 65C in gaming etc.

50s while it's idle? something's wrong... :S seems way too high....

What's your room temp like?
Can you post a pic of how much thermal paste you applied or something? lol

No, No. 50's were the load temps.

.... and you haven't overclocked?

50s under load is perfectly normal mate... stop sweating over it lol.

Like I said, I use the same processor + same cooler as you, and I hit 67C under load, OCed at 4.3Ghz.

I was worried because temps were hitting the 70s after putting the build together, but the temps gradually lowered down to normal. I guess the past just needed time to set in.
