After you've done that, post a new 'HJT' log as well as the following.

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip to your Desktop.
Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Post this log also.

I was not able to find the file "smitfraudfix.cmd" I was able to locate Smitfraudfix (windows NT Command Script), I ran that, and that gave me this, in a Run command prompt.

Fischier Process.exe, absent!

Process.exe file missing!

Press any key to continue...

I pressed any key and it just exited out of the prompt. Did I do something wrong here?

Again. It is very important to follow the instructions.

Download SmitfraudFix to your 'DESKTOP'. Right click on it and select 'Extract Here'.A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop. Now you should see the 'smitfraudfix.cmd' , correct?.

On top of what edifier has stated:

Go to add/remove programs and uninstall:

Need2Find

o Please set your system to show hidden files
o Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O2 - BHO: Need2Find Bar BHO - {4D1C4E81-A32A-416b-BCDB-33B3EF3617D3} - C:\Program Files\Need2Find\bar\1.bin\ND2FNBAR.DLL

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
o Reboot into Safe Mode: Restart your computer and tap the F8 key until a menu comes up, select "Safe Mod" and press the enter key.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following folders marked in red, and delete them:

C:\Program Files\Need2Find

Exit Explorer.

Let's clean up a bit more as well...

Please download ewido security suite it is a free version of the program.
1. Install ewido security suite
2. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
+ Install background guard
+ Install scan via context menu
3. Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
4. The program will now open to the main screen.
5. When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
6. You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
+ On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
+ Then click on Start Update.
7. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
(the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful")
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
ewido manual updates

Once the updates are installed do the following:
o Click on scanner
o Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
o You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
o Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
o Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
o Click Save report.
o Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.
Close ewido security suite and reboot.

Edifier, I am still unable to find the file "smitfraudfix.cmd". And the folder was on my desktop, and I extracted them like you said. What else am I doing wrong? But I must say this, pop-ups have gone down 98% (rough estimate) Thanks for your help thus far, even though I cant follow directions.

Motoxrdude, I am currently trying your method, to see what else I can clean up.

Motoxrdude, that ewido spyware scan cleaned up a bunch of threats. Thanks a bunch! Looking forward to any other advice or steps you all have. Thanks again!

My apologies.

It looks like it could be another issue. Delete the Smitfraudfix folders on your desktop and download it and try again. If you get the same errors, try the fix below.

In order to fix this and get SmitfraudFix to work, do this:
1. Download FIXPATH2.ZIP from here:
http://internet.cybermesa.com/~bstewart/files/fixpath2.zip
2. Extract the files to a folder in C:\ such as C:\FIXPATH2 (make a folder like that to extract the files to).
3. RUNNING THE PROGRAM:
* Open a command prompt window by going to Start > Run and type: cmd
In the command prompt, type: cd C:\
So you should get C:\>
Then type: cd FIXPATH2
So you should get: C:\>fixpath2
Then type: FIXPATH.EXE
* It will display some preliminary information, and ask if it should continue and check for errors. Click Yes.
* If it successfully updates the Path value in the registry, you will need to reboot for the change to take effect. !! This is really important !!
After reboot, try to run SmitfraudFix again.
