HIS ATI Radeon HD 5770

What Matthew said,Imo the only thing good going for it is DX11 and sort of the price.....but You would be better saving for a 5850...that will max all current games.

Wait for Nvidia fermi to come out, this might push down the 5850/5870s prices.

If you dont want to wait...a 4890 is another alternative, its a powerhouse but unfurtunatly no DX11.

Good

-DX11
-low power consumption
-small card

Bad

-won't max new games, BF BC2 etc

+1. If you have an high-end pc and you play games maxed out dont buy it because you wont be able to play maxed out. Get 5850, 5870 or 5970. They do cost more but you wont regret it. I would not raise my hopes on the new nvidia cards because they will be expensive. Also prices wont drop on the 5xxx series if nvidia releases their new cards. It has to pass a lot of time in order for them to drop the prices.

Let me clarify here. Be "max", most of these guys are referring to playing it on very high resolutions, with all settings on max. The 5770 can "max" nearly any current game, but you might have to settle for "only" 1080p as your resolution on the harder ones. It's definitely a gaming card.

This is Crysis Warhead on a 5770 at 1920x1080, all settings maxed, no AA:

And Bad Company 2, also at 1080p:

Depends on the resolution. I can max out crysis, AA and all, at 1280x1024, my monitors native res.

Also getting a solid 50+ FPS in DiRT 2 with the 10.3 drivers, no less than 40 at any time. (10.3 gives 20% extra peformance for 5700 and 5800 cards, a whopping 30% for the 5970's)

And i did have a... "legitimate" copy of BC2 before, but it was all in russian. I did some translatng and maxed out the settings, (8xaa and 16xaf) and got above 50 all the time...

For any res higher than 1680x1050, get a 5850 or better. Also, a dual core is a bottleneck. (for me anyway)
