hi i want to buy a good mid-range AGP graphics card for my comp, and found these 2....the Nvidia 7600 GT AGP....or the HIS Radeon X1650 XT AGP....you can see the HIS on tiger direct...first the 7600 gt has 12 pixel pipelines and the ATI has 24....core clock of the HIS X1650 XT...is 630MHz while the 7600 is at 580...and the memory clock of the X1650 XT is 1460MHz i dont know the 7600 GT's though,....but ya both 256MB ofcourse, lol and the HIS has that huge intercooled fan thingy on it, that keeps it -11c cooler then regular fans....anyways, what do you guys think i should get?? what would be your choice??....there around the same price..but the HIS is a little cheaper

I would go for nvidia, because they have a lower frequency and yet produce the same if not better performance. The 7600GT doesn't need an external power connector while the X1650XT do. Pipelines are not everything. A X1950pro has 48 and a 7900GT has 24 and yet my 7900GT THRASHES my friend's X1950 pro.

I prefer the x1650xt, I am not a fan boy, I just think it is a better card. Your games will look better with the ATI gpu.

I think 7600GT is marginally ahead. The fact that it doesn't need an external power and it has a smaller cooler is enough for me to choose a 7600GT over a X1650XT. I'm sure in terms of heat generated, the X1650XT produces more than the 7600GT because the ATi one needs such a huge heatsink and fan.
