Does anyone know what the file path is for internet explorer? I need to retrieve the internet history that got deleted using a filerecovery program but I need the file path (you know like c:\windows\system32\history) I dont know where it is located.

C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\Local Settings\History

Assuming Windows is on the c:\ drive. Why do you want to retreive it?

I was websurfing the other day and came across a cool site and I thought I saved it in my favorites but I guess I didnt and I deleted the history and I cant find the site again. Someone said you can retrieve the history using the index.dat files does anyone know how to do this and would it be easier then trying to recover the history folder using a file recovery tool?

You could certainly try that. Download and install Index Dat Spy, from the menu choose scan for all the index.dat files, and select and go through them one by one. A word of warning though, if you surf a lot there are going to be a lot of entries in each of the 20+ .dat files to trawl through just to find that one website...

Do you know if they are in any type of order, such as date, size ect ect? And if I can arrange an order by date to make my search alittle easier? This just happend two days ago and I would hate to have to troll through a years worth of history files, lol!

With that program you can arrange the different entries numerically, alphabetically, or chronologically, all by clicking once or several times on the column headings.
