You got that right.Go to 'add/remove programs' and uninstall anything suspicious including the following if present.

about:blank
SearchAssistant
mrfindalot
SurfSideKick

Reboot and navigate to and delete any of the above folders in 'Program Files'.

Please make sure 'Spybot S&D' is disabled during the entire cleaning process.

Also, go to 'Control Panel/folder options/view' and check 'show hidden files and folders'.While there, UNCHECK 'hide protected operating system files(recommended)'.

You have a corrupted winsock. Download WinSockFix here http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Network-Tweak/WinSockFix.shtml

Download Ewido http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ then set it up this way http://rstones12.geekstogo.com/ewidosetup.htm You will need this later in safe mode
Make sure to update this program.

Download ATF-Cleaner to your desktop from this link

Download, install and update 'A-squared' here http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/

Download, install and update Superantispyware here http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

Download 'Killbox' here http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.exe to your desktop.You will need it later in safe mode.

Run the WinSockFix.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

Restart your computer

After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;

Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;

Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".

Choose your usual account.

Run Hijack This from safe mode, close all windows except Hijack This, place a check to the left of the following items if still present and press "fix checked".

Exit Hijack This but remain in safe mode

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.
Put a tick by Standard File Kill.
In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time if still present.

Click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file.
It will ask for confimation to delete the file.
Click Yes.
Continue with that procedure until you have pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

Continuing from safemode, begin running your scans and let them delete what they find.Run them in this order.

Ewido
A-squared
Superantispyware

Run ATF-Cleaner from safe mode.Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

Reboot into normal windows and run this free online scan from 'Panda' here http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm This scan also does removal.Once finished, run 'HJT' again and post your new log.

I just never installed my AV because I thought I would be fine. I know better than to do download certain things (usually)... but I came accross something I couldn't resist, and of course, it was too good to be true...
