HL2: Episode One graphics

I was looking at the screen shots for this expansion for the HL and was just wondering if they updated any graphics on it or was the game created with the source engine?
 
It's the same as HL2 without being able to add the autoexec.cfg for game modding like increasing the amount of ammo and a few other things. But it will demand the latest ATI or NVidia drivers be installed just like HL2 did. There are no as many game maps. But the maps themselves are larger being split into more sections along with an increase in combines and zombies to fight off.
 
It is made with the same engine (source) but Half-Life2 episode 1 will have HDR, and a few other new graphical goodies.
 
Would any of you guys know if they would be updating CS:S also?

I'm going to be buying the game soon (hopefully tomorrow). I'll post and tell you guys what I think.

CS:S is updated frequently, every month or so minor bugs are fixed, recently (2 months ago or so, not sure) they added HDR to some maps (millitia and dust1, dunno others), I love the game, only thing I don't like are the cheaters, too many cheaters, I've tried cheating too but it's no fun, I don't know how can some1 cheat, oh yeah and, I didn't even get caught by VAC (valve anti-cheat), that sux too, they gotta fix that.

they have already updated it to support HDR lighting.

They only updated a few maps to have HDR, the rest dont support it yet.
 
i cant believe im so behind with this lot, curse you exams, why did you cause me to not be up to date.... OK, so being the avid HL2 fan i am, i really wanna get episode 1, is HDR optional, like can i turn it off, cos on a 5200 it aint gonna be pretty, also, is there any disc version to physically buy, i knwo you can buy and then pre-load on steam but i want discs, do they exist or is it purely steam donwnloads...??

Yep-You can turn off HDR (I have a mx4000 and HL2EP1 ran fine)
Yep-You can buy disks, I waited an extra day and whent to EB Games to buy the box.

no its not an expansion pack, its a standalone game, you do not need HL2 to run it... it continues from where the citadel exploded and g-man came and rescued you

Well you have to remember that Episode One is not a full game but a newer addon edition to HL2. Lost Coast also had the High Dynamic Range(HDR) added in that update to HL2. HDR can stand for High Dynamic Range imaging (digital imaging) or High Dynamic Range rendering (3D image rendering) just to have that explained here. As far cheating on servers that will depend if someone installed the GameSpot or GameSpy whatever anticheat software that comes along with multiplayer and games including the multiplayer option.
