not sure if this is in the right section.. but it occurs before windows loads up. it's around where the system is detecting the ide drives.. and a message saying 'No IDE channel no 80 conductor cable installed' or something like that.. i was just wondering what it is.. because i havent seen anyone else have that error. i mean its not affecting me entirely but im curious..

Heya

It's a problem that not many people are aware of. It has to do with the speeds that the cable is made for. The Conductor 80 IDE cable is made for transfer speeds of ATA100, ATA133. However, a non-80 conductor cable is made for speeds of ATA66 and less. Just get a new cable for ATA100/133 and you will be fine :)

Hmm that's wierd.. my motherboard is made for ATA 100, and the manual says it includes ATA100 cables ..
Has this actually been affecting my speeds of my ide drives? !! Computer's pretty slow.. =\ was wondering why it was so slow..
