Ive been an nvidia fan ever since my first computers radion blew up after just like 3 weeks of use. Now though I have been hearing a lot more about radion and how their prices are cheaper and have great value.....I might be switching due to that fact.... Also I believe I heard somewhere that their 5 series is going to be diesel for gaming! ;p

anyone have any opinions on radion and how they are doing?

also is 8gb of ram crazy? I have 4 slots, would 2x2gb and then 2x1gb for 6gb be smarter? I have a feeling I'm going crazy. I don't even know if 64 bit works the same as 32 bit with games or regular operation!!

Ati Radeon's are every bit as good as nvidia's nowadays and there often priced lower as well. If your looking at getting a new graphics card id advise you to wait until the new 5 series come out (in the next few weeks apparently) even if you don't want one because they will bring the prices down on the older cards. As for the ram 8gb does seem over the top but if you have a 64bit os you'll be able to use it all anyway. Most of the time when you see people with 6gb of ram you'll find they have an i7 cpu and motherboard and there using the 6gb in 3 channels to increase bandwidth.

hope this helps
