Here is the deal...as some of you may know, I live in Germany. My wife uses German e-bay and they are moving some processors right now. They are all extreme series and seem like a good deal to me. They are all used but It will either work or not work as a processor.

1. Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850

2. Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800

3. Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700

Last night I watched a Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 go for 196 Euros, about $260 U.S dollars, he out bid me by 2 cents!

Those are expen$ive processors.... ive seen a cpu in the "extreme" line go for about $1000+ USD.... i personally wouldn't pay that much... i would be suspicious about someone selling one for $300....

don't bother, just spend a few extra bucks on a better motherboard and get a regular processor. those just have unlocked upward multipliers, which is stupid because most people turn their multipliers to a lower setting to benefit from the higher fsb. that's only if your motherboard can handle 1800-2000fsb in most cases, and mostly only with quad core.

you took the words right out of my mouth. most of the world records are held on regular processors, not extreme edition cpus. if you're gonna run DI/LN2 or cascade, etc... by all means get one and see what it will do. i recommend you get an E8600 or a Q9450 right now for the best performance.

yea. you can reach a high frequency with an extreme edition processor pretty easily, but you really need to increase the FSB with it or your rig will lack performance.
