What would I need to do, to set up my own home based FTP server, for transferring semi large files around the house? I have a Mac with my iTunes collection (Around 3GB), and I want to send that folder to my PC. But when I tried to use an external drive or connect to my PC one to one, it didn't work, so I want to try thr FTP method. Where I connect to the Server on my Mac, upload the music folder, and download it on the other PC, right?

I am open to other suggestions as well.

Thanks.

Ok so the server will be a Pc right ? at the top of my head i would use BFTP server.
has always work for me, except for the fact that passwords are plain text but in a house it's not a problem.
There are free ones such as Golden FTP, Xlight or a bunch of others here

anyway on your mac, a good client would be Cyberduck or even Fetch, then again am pretty sure you already have a client on your mac right ?

i hope all the above can point you in one direction or another

cheers
